If on the one hand I can't deny that it is true that food in Venice is expensive, on the other I have to say that -as long as you find the time to go away from the Piazza San Marco area, there are many options that combine affordable prices to quality food and wine.
For this reason, I decided to share my 15 favourite places for quality budget eats in Venice. With the term budget eats I include places where you spend from about 15 to 30 euros per person and the list includes only places where it's possible to sit down for a meal and take it easy. Consider that, on average, a meal in a restaurant goes from a minimum of 25 to 50 euros per person, so if you want to spend less consider eateries, pizzerias and wine bars! Wine bars, in particular, may hide incredible surprises and local delicacies ...

Caco nero is a lovely eatery located about 5 minutes from campo Santa Margherita.
It's possible to have lunch and an early dinner (closing time 10 pm) or just cakes and coffees. The menu is short, the offer changes daily and everything is homemade. Plus, there are always options for vegetarians! Highly recommended.

Tiny wine bar and eatery with excellent quality cheese, cold cuts, salads and cold dishes. Great attention to ingredient sourcing and freshness, organic juices and natural wines, soft background music and a warm atmosphere.

Beautiful cafeteria and eatery located inside the cloister of an ex convent, with both indoor and outdoor seating. In addition to the location, the food on offer is really good!
